AutoPoll – How to Determine if Polling Occurred – TimeVue / TimeSource

KB0040: AutoPoll – How to Determine if Polling Occurred – TimeVue / TimeSource

Solution:

A quick way to review polling activity is to view the PollActivity.txt file.

If you are using TimeSource, the file is located in the TsourceV7 directory on your hard drive. The default location is: C:\Program Files\TsourceV7

If you are using TimeVue, the file is located in the TimeVue directory. The default location is: C:\Program Files\Icon Time Systems\TimeVue

If autopoll was successful, you will see an entry in the text file similar to:

Mar-15-05 10:00 am : POLL Clock 1 LABTEST – Ok.

If an entry does NOT appear in the log file, the autopolling task was not setup or scheduled properly, the computer was shut down during the night, or the workstation does not have the proper security permissions to perform this task. Check with your system administrator to verify that your computer is properly setup to run scheduled tasks after you log off the computer.

If the autopoll appears in the PollActivity.txt file, but the polling FAILED, there may have been a connectivity or communications issue with the clock at the time of polling. Try recycling the power at the clock and check the serial or network connections for problems.
