KB0126: Error Message: Retrieving the COM Class Factory for CSLID Failed in TimeVue after In

Solution:

This message indicates that the person that logged into the computer did not have full permissions to properly install and register the necessary TimeVue files in MS Windows.

NOTE: If you are upgrading a current TimeVue installation and you have current company data, make sure you backup your database first before uninstalling the software in the steps below.

If this is Windows XP and a new installation:

  1. Click on your Windows Start Icon and go to Control Panel.
  2. Select Add\Remove Programs and uninstall TimeVue.
  3. Reboot the computer and make sure you log into the computer with full administrative rights.
  4. Reinstall the software.
  5. Say NO to the option to Overwrite the current copy of the software when opening TimeVue again if this option window appears.

If this is Windows 7 or Vista and a new installation:

  1. If your TimeVue CD version is prior to v1.0.32, insert the CD in the drive. Close the installation wizard if it appears.
  2. Download the TimeVue update and follow the instructions on the download page to install the update. Go to this link: TimeVue Update
  3. After the software is installed, a TimeVue short-cut will appear on the Windows desktop.
  4. Right mouse click on the TimeVue short-cut on the desktop and select Properties.
  5. In the properties window, select the Compatibility tab.
  6. Make sure the Run the Program as Administrator option is checked at the bottom of this screen. Click Apply and OK to save your changes.
  7. Double-click on the TimeVue short-cut to start the program.
  8. If the User Account Control window appears, click YES to allow the program to open.
  9. Say NO to the option to Overwrite the current copy of the software when opening TimeVue again if this option window appears.
