Solution:

Make an archive of your database on your current computer.

  1. In TimeVue, select archive. Save the archive.arc file to a USB memory stick or save the file to a network drive so that it can be accessed and transferred to your new computer.
  2. When saving the archive, select NO when prompted to remove any old data from your database .

Install TimeVue on your new PC.

  1. Load the CD into the drive and follow the instructions in the installation wizard. Select a “Complete” setup installation.
  2. Click on the desktop short cut to start TimeVue.
  3. A message will appear asking you to specify your data location. Click OK.
  4. In the “Browse to database file..” window, select the Datastorage.tvd file in the TimeVue folder and click the Open button.
  5. Enter your original 50 employee enable code in the registration window and click OK.
  6. After the correct code is entered, a “Serial Number Applied” window will appear with your correct serial number. Click the OK button.
  7. Click the Start button on the Welcome screen to start TimeVue.
  8. Select the Restore icon and browse to the location of the archive.arc file that you saved from your original computer. Click the Open button to restore the archive.
  9. Select the Yes button in the “Append Data?” window.
  10. Select the Yes button in the “Replace Timeclock Rules” window to import your current TimeVue pay period information.
  11. Click OK in the “Restore Complete” window. All of your original data is now on your new computer.

Verify that you can communicate with the clock.

NOTE: If you have an RS232 Icon Time Systems PIN or PROX Employee Time Clock, make sure it is connected to your new computer’s serial or USB port. The COM port number assigned to your new computer may be different from the previous computer. Your TimeVue Time Clock setting may no longer be correct.

  1. Click on the Time Clocks icon in TimeVue.
  2. Select the Test button to the far right of the Time Clocks screen to test communication with the clock.
  3. If the test is OK, you are finished. If the test fails, try the troubleshooting steps at this link: USB connection issues

NOTE: If you have an Icon Time Systems PIN or PROX ethernet Employee Time Clock, you will need to setup a virtual serial port using the Tibbo utility software.

  1. Click on the Time Clocks icon in TimeVue.
  2. Verify the COM Port number assigned to your clock.
  3. If you are using Windows XP, click on your Windows Start icon. Select All Programs\Icon Time Systems\Ethernet Time Clock Setup\Install Tibbo.
  4. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, download and install the appropriate version of Tibbo Device Server Toolkit from this link: Download Page.
  5. Follow the steps in the Installation Wizard and install all components.
  6. Click on your Windows Start icon. Select All Programs\Icon Time Systems\Ethernet Time Clock Setup\Ethernet Time Clock Installation Guide.
  7. Print the user guide and follow the instructions to setup Tibbo.
  8. Select the Test button to the far right of the Time Clocks screen in TimeVue to test communication with the clock.
