Icon Time Systems products are unique in that they are modular by design. This means you can economically add advanced features to one of our base systems or build a system from scratch choosing the hardware and software components that are right for you. To design a custom system you may use our build your own clock wizard (below) or read about each component below and decide what options fit best for your business.

Entry Options – How your employees are identified at the time clock terminal.

• Personal Identification Number (PIN) – Employees clock in/out using an easy-to-remember 3 to 9 digit pin-number of your choice.
• Proximity Card – Employees wave a Proximity Card within one inch of the clock to record their in/out punch. Cards often can read through wallets and purses; the employee never touches the clock, saving wear and time.
• Magnetic Badge – Magnetic badges, similar to a credit card, are swiped through a read slot on the time clock. Magnetic badges are not as secure, or maintenance free as proximity, however magnetic badges work well if your employees already have magnetic badges from another application.
• Barcode Badge – Employees swipe their badges through a read slot that optically scans the badge. Like magnetic badges this method works well if your employees are already using barcode badges for another application.
• Biometric – Employees use their hand geometry as the method of clocking in/out. The handprint is stored in the clock’s memory, and is associated with a 3-digit code that the employee inputs into the clock.

Communication Options – How your time clock sends data to your PC.

• RS232 (Direct Connection) – Connect the time clock to a PC located up to 100 feet away. A standard 50-foot cable is provided with the clock, longer cables are available upon request. Direct connection is the most common method for connecting time clocks that are in close proximity to the PC.
• Ethernet TCP/IP – Connect your time clock right into your network. Our TCP/IP clocks communicate with the PC over Local or Wide Area Networks. This method allows clocks to be located anywhere in the facility, or world, that has Ethernet access.
• Modem – Connect your time clock to your PC over standard telephone lines. Perfect for remote locations this method only uses the phone line when it is transmitting data to the PC.

Additional Hardware Options

Color – Time clocks are available in Black or White.

Operational Battery Backup – All Icon Time Systems clocks hold time and memory for 3 years in absence of AC power. If your employees need to punch in and out without AC power, this adds up to a 3 hours of function in the event of a power outage.

Signal Control Kit – With this option your clock can control a bell, light, or signal of any kind -- up to 35 timed events. This kit is especially useful if you would like the time clock to control a bell or whistle to indicate breaks, lunch, or shift starts and stops.

Access Control Kit – This option adds a basic access control system that operates from your time clock. Using an electronic door lock of your choice (not included) the time clock will allow the door to open upon a valid in/out punch. Valuable reports will detail when and who went in and out of your facility.
